#ugh #i got yelled at in a the delena lj comm for calling bullshit on this #because it is because stefan came to town and it is because they fell in love and he stayed #and it is because damon stirred up trouble and called attention back to mystic falls #and it is all of their fault #elena being the doppleganger is not something she could control #but this she could have and it is her fault #and it's stefan's and it's damon's #it is this trios fault #and elena is realizing all of this in this moment #she is realizing the blame she shares #but she doesn't put on stefan and she doesn't put it on damon #because it's hers to carry #she is the doppleganger #she couldn't control that but it's a fact #and she doesn't care about the other stuff because it all comes back to her #and i'm glad that she got this moment #i am glad that she finally recognized her role in this and that is not completely an innocent #because she is not worrying about anyone else's part in this #she is worrying and feeling immense guilt overher part #because that is what elena does #she puts everything on her shoulders #no one elses #this is her burden to carry #it is her town. it is her people. it is her home. #and she threw it out of flux by simply existing and then falling in love #if you don't love this scene then there is something wrong #elena owns her guilt #damon blames it on other people #and stefan internalizes his
